Ahizpak Means "Sisters" in Basque
From the sands of Euskadi Euskadi, the Basque Country, draws Izar and Maite Iribarren-Gorrindo because of it's beauty, culture and food and because it is their second home. In the picture shown here they are visiting one of the many beautiful beaches that surround the Basque Country to the North and West while sporting their favorite Lolė and Horny Toad clothes from EveryWear!
They have many relatives and friends that they love to visit whenever they can. Between the two of them they have visited Euskadi more than 6 times each and have toured with the Oinkari Basque dancers from Boise on two occasions. Around Boise Izar and Maite are star designers and artists without a doubt. Izar is a painter and designer in her spare time with iPlan. Her ahizpa (sister) Maite is an award winning interior designer. Together they have an art and crafts design business called Ahizpak Art. Visit www.ahizpak.com for more.
Both ladies were born in Nevada and raised in North Idaho, and both have always had art on their minds and flying off their fingers. They attended the Art Institute of Seattle, moving to Boise in 2002. They volunteer extensively and are members of the Oinkari Basque Dancers. Izar and Maite designed the Oinkari logo and helped Dave from iPlan design the Oinkari web site located at www.oinkari.org.
